Today's Brain Fart: When was the last time you let your mind wander?...
I mean really wander? Not looking at your phone. Not listening to any music. Not speaking to anyone. Just being in the moment.
There’s something about just being, with no fixed agenda and having no particular objective, for some time each day.
It is in these moments, free from stimulation, that we often have our greatest breakthroughs.
Think of all of the Eureka moments that are said to occur: in the bath, sitting on the toilet, whilst asleep or even sitting under an apple tree!
“Not all those who wander are lost” - J. R. R. Tolkien
Wandering is part of the journey. Now you can’t do it all the time, as you’ll get nothing productive done. However, the opposite is also true. You can’t be "on" all of the time and expect to do your best work.
So my challenge to you is this: stop looking at your phone, turn the music off, enjoy some silence and let your mind wander, even for just a few moments each day.
Who knows where the many wanders of life will take you...
